Awuse, courageously told Ikwerrians to refuse to be pawns in the political chess game of Rivers State, so he championed the political emancipation of Ikwerre people who have been relegated to the back bench as regards occupying the brick house, he (SDP) was disqualified along Chief Zebulon Abule (NRC)
Chief Awuse brought Chief Eric Aso under SDP while Chief Abule brought Chief Rufus Ada George under NRC which the later won and that served as an eye opener to the Ikwerrians that they should be given an opportunity to produce the Governor of R/S. Chief Sergeant Awuse since then had been a Governorship candidate twice under ANPP and DPP respectively trying to avail himself for service to Rivers people. Chief Sergeant Chidi Awuse is from Emuoha.

The first Ikwerre man to be a speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly was Rt Hon. Rotimi Amaechi; he preceded Rt Hon. Ezekwem Stephen and was succeeded by Rt Hon. Tonye Harry,Rt Hon. Ameachi is from Ubima.

The first Ikwerre man to be a local government chairman in USA was Hon. Mayor Emmanuel Onuwor, he is from Rumuomasi .

The first Ikwerre man to be the president of Student Union Governmentof Unitech was Hon. Kingsley O. Chinda who presently represents the good people of Obio Akpor at the federal House of Representatives.He also worked hard to ensure that the spelling of the name of his Constituency was changed from Obia/Akpor to Obio/Akpor.Hon. K. O Chinda preceded Hon. Ike Chinwo.He is from Elelenwo.

The first government recognized and oldest traditional stool in Ikwerre was Okpo wagidi stool of Isiokpo dynasty it has been in existence since, 1,300 AD.

AKA OCJ Okocha was a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association in the year 2000.This earned him a title EPITHET MILLENNIUM PRESIDENT  of NBA , he is from Rumuokoro.

The first Ikwerre man to be a captain of the Nigerian Army was Dr Elechi Amadi; the Author of The Concubine .He led the Ogbako Ikwerre Convention (A social cultural organization of the Ikwerre ethnic group ) to the Justice Chukwudifu Oputa panel on 10th Oct, 2001 set up by the federal government under president Olusegun Obasanjo to present a document titled THE IKWERRE  ETHNIC GROUP HAS NO HISTORICAL  ORIGIN OR AFFILIATION WITH THE  IGBOs as claimed by the Ohaneze Ndi Igbo at the panel. The first Ikwerre man to be an Anglican church bishop was Rt.Rev. Samuel O. Elenwo who served as the Bishop of Niger Delta Diocese, later pioneered the Diocese of Niger Delta North. Rt Rev S.O. Elenwo is from Ogbakiri.
