There was ecstatic excitement in the fold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ward 4, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State as Hon. Collins Ordu, a former Member representing Obio/Akpor Constituency I in the Rivers State House of Assembly and others returned to the PDP officially.
Receiving them into the party, a member of the Rivers State Judicial Service Commission who doubles as the Leader of PDP in Ward 4, Mr. Richard Ehie urged the defectors to be dedicated to the party’s principles and ideals, saying the challenges ahead required more commitment and sacrifice.
He expressed delight that the returnees, led by Hon. Collins Ordu who had left the party for one reason or the other would help strengthen the party more in the ward.
Richard Ehie therefore, charged them to use their political weight to ensure victory for the party come 2023 and beyond.
Earlier, Chief Hon. Collins Ordu had stated that returning to the PDP was like coming back home and that he felt like a stranger in the APC. He commended Governor Nyesom Wike for his inclusive leadership style, which puts the state’s interest above personal and sectional considerations.
The erudite lawmaker commended Governor Nyesom Wike over his developmental strides in infrastructure in the state. He noted that the spate of infrastructure recorded by the present administration has changed the landscape of the state for accelerated development.
Chief Collins also commended the governor in the area of human capital development, which according to him, is also important for the overall development of the state.
He expressed his commitment and readiness to contribute his quota towards ensuring the party’s victory in the coming general elections.
The former lawmaker prayed to God to keep Gov. Nyesom Wike alive to enable him do more for the people of the state and the country in general.
The former Lawmaker used the opportunity to ask Rivers people to vote all the PDP candidates for the 2023 elections coming up in a few months from now because PDP is the only party that is prepared for election in Rivers State. He said they should vote Hon Martins Amaewhule (The current Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly) for another term. He equally asked them to vote for Hon O. K. Chinda for the House of Representatives seat and Hon. Allwell Onyesom for the Senate seat.
Hon Ordu emphatically requested Rivers State indigenes to vote for SIM Fubara and Professor Ngozi Ordu for Governor and Deputy Governor of Rivers State. The former Lawmaker said SIM Fubara is double dimension in experience, adding that SIM Fubara is a technocrat in the sense that he was a seasoned Civil Servant and now a politician. So he has so much knowledge of governance. He requested Rivers people not to be envious of the face that the Governor choose to support SIM Fubara, that all of them that occupied one position or the other had support from someone. Therefore SIM Fubara should not be seen differently. People should rather look at his wealth of experience and how it will assist and be useful to him in governance.
Addressing party faithful, the Ward Chairman of PDP in Ward 4, Mr Clinton Ogbu urged party faithful to be alive to their responsibility and ensure they work tirelessly for the success of the party in their various units.
" It is welcome back home for these members sitting here today. They traveled somewhere and now they have returned to their abode where they are truly valued and appreciated.
Some of the defectors expressed their readiness to work for PDP, saying “we are back to our root.”
Highpoint: The high point of the event was the presentation of the Party's flag to Chief Hon. Collins Ordu by Mr. Richard Ehie.
